Requirements to join Cadets
In order to join the Canadian Cadet Organization, participants must meet the following criteria:
- Cadets must be at least 12 years old
- Be a Canadian citizen
- Bring a copy of their birth certificates
- Bring a copy of their health insurance card
How Much Does it Cost?
There are no enrollment or membership fees to join the Canadian Cadet Program!
The Department of National Defense, in partnership with the Army Cadet League of Canada and local sponsoring groups, provide the funding for the Canadian Cadet Program to conduct our Regular Training and participate in Regional Activities.
However the funding provided by DND doesn't cover everything. During the course of the year we conduct fundraising events to help cover the costs of equipment and activities that fall outside of DND's guidelines, such as Citizenship trips.

Are Cadets part of the Canadian Armed Forces?
No, the Canadian Cadet Program is a leadership program that emulates the structure of the Canadian Armed Forces to teach leadership, citizenship, and other skills common to basic CAF training. Similar to groups like Junior Firefighters.
However, cadets can use their time in the Cadet Program as a small credit towards their basic training if they do decide to join the Canadian Armed Forces.
